Home Page | Bonsai Nut
The company was created to increase accessibility to quality bonsai tools, while supporting traditional Japanese craftsmen and craftsmanship. I highly recommend you check out their web site. In addition to their storefront, they have a wealth of information about the artisans, a bonsai blog, and a library of bonsai videos!

Juniper in Winter | Bonsai Nut
Hello! This is my first winter with a bonsai and was hoping for some advice. I have a 3-year-old juniper. I'm in southern Minnesota, so I'm in the 5a zone. I've seen lots of varying information on how to care for junipers in winter, and I wasn't sure what the best solution for my tree might be...

Rooting Whole Japanese Maple Branches | Bonsai Nut
After reading @Roadrunner 's post in the Aeroponic Propagation of JMs thread where he shared Mark Moreland's approach to create shohin trees by rooting whole sections of trees, I decided to try my hand. I didn't have all the right pieces available so I made do with what I had and seem to have been successful. I tried it on the old apex of a Japanese Maple that I had to cut off anyways to make ...

Thunderhead - Bonsai Nut
Besides the cool name is thunderhead Japanese black pine a good tree for bonsai? I've checked previous posts and found some conflicting information. One says they are good subjects and another says that they are too congested. I ask because I found a couple larger ones at a nursery near me...

Northern Red Oak Advice | Bonsai Nut
I came across this Northern Red Oak in a neighbor's yard, It's between 8 and 10 feet tall, the main trunk is approx. 4 inches in dia. and the second trunk is about 1.5 inches. These are joined as the photo shows and this part is mostly punky and rotten. I'm wondering if... or thinking rather...

Fukien Tea troubleshooting | Bonsai Nut
First post here! I have read a number of posts on Fukien tea trees losing leaves. It seems they tend to do this if you take care of them or if you don't take care of them. Overwatering or underwatering also seems to do the trick! Basically, there are dozens of posts on the topic, but no...

Hi Everyone, As i got some very good advice on the forum thus far i thought i'd ask the question what is the best method i.e grown in the ground, large growing pot, thin large tray for development of both trunk and nebari? I got a freebie thrown in that looked neglected with the regular...

Where to find Pre-bonsai in Northern California
I have started collecting bonsai and wanted to know if there is a good place to get pre-bonsai in Northern California. I am looking for some variety to allow me to grow trees with bigger trunks versus the thinner trunked already potted bonsai online.

Are Italian Stone Pines good choices for bonsai?
Stone Pine Bonsai at Fuji Bonsai Nursery I've seen several nice Stone Pines at Roy Nagatoshi's nursery (Fuji Bonsai Nursery). He constantly sheers the trees to make sure the foliage stays juvenile and compact. If you can get out to Roy's place, it would be worth the trip. JC
